How to transcribe a meeting offline
Install Pauta, pick a local transcription engine and record. Transcription and summaries run on your computer, so they keep working without internet.
Step by step
- Download Pauta and open the app once while online. It downloads the transcription and summary models, and only needs to do that the first time.
- In the transcription settings, pick a local engine.
- Start recording when the meeting starts. Pauta notices the meeting, or you turn recording on whenever you want.
- When it ends, read the transcript and the summary. Everything is saved on your computer.
Honest limits
- An online meeting needs internet for the call itself. What works offline is Pauta. In-person meetings recorded through the microphone need no network at all.
- The app goes online to validate the license and trial period and to check for a new version. Those requests do not carry the content of your recordings.
- Summaries run on the local Qwen model, which is the default. If you connect Claude or ChatGPT, the summary text goes to that provider.

It does once the models are downloaded and a local transcription engine is chosen. Transcription and summaries run on your computer.
Does my meeting audio leave the computer?
No. Transcription and summaries run on your computer.
Can I transcribe an in-person meeting?
